Lee Dohyun, Seo Chaehyun, and Shin Euncheol Secure Paris Olympic Spots at Budapest Qualifiers

At the second phase of the Paris Olympic Qualifiers held in Budapest, Hungary, Korean national sport climbers Lee Dohyun (Seoul City Hall), Seo Chaehyun (Seoul City Hall), and speed climber Shin Euncheol (The Shel) secured their tickets to the Paris Olympics. 

The event, which ran from June 20th to 23rd, featured combined (boulder and lead) and speed climbing competitions. Athletes' scores from the first phase of the qualifiers held in Shanghai were combined with their Budapest scores to determine the top 10 male and female combined climbers and the top 5 male and female speed climbers who would advance to the Paris Olympics. 

Seo Chaehyun earned 45 points by finishing 2nd in the Shanghai qualifiers, and added another 36 points by finishing 5th in Budapest, totaling 81 points to secure 4th place overall and a ticket to the Paris Olympics. 

Lee Dohyun, who topped the Shanghai qualifiers with 50 points, finished 2nd in Budapest, adding 45 points to his total. With an overall score of 95 points, he secured 1st place and his Olympic ticket. 

Shin Euncheol, who placed 12th in the Shanghai qualifiers with 29 points, finished 11th in Budapest, adding 30 points to his total for a final score of 59 points. Despite the speed category only awarding Olympic spots to the top 5 finishers, Shin Euncheol secured his Olympic ticket thanks to country quotas. 

The Paris Olympic sport climbing events are scheduled to take place from August 5th to 10th.
