Kenyan athlete Eliud Kipchoge set a new world record in the men's marathon. On September 25, 2022, at the Berlin Marathon, Kipchoge completed the race in an impressive time of 2 hours, 1 minute, and 9 seconds, breaking the previous world record he set at the same event in 2018 with a time of 2 hours, 1 minute, and 39 seconds, by a remarkable 30 seconds. The dream of achieving a sub-2-hour marathon (completing a marathon course in under 2 hours) is now one step closer.
After finishing the full-course race, Kipchoge expressed his satisfaction, stating, "My legs and body are still young, and most importantly, my heart is young. While I couldn't break the 2-hour barrier, I am happy to set a new world record." Despite being in his late 30s, born in 1984, Kipchoge remains committed to the challenge of achieving a sub-2-hour record.
