Silva Terra Scout XT Made with Hemp Fiber and Recycled Plastics

A headlamp is, of course, expected to light up. However, Silva's Terra Scout offers more than just illumination. This headlamp holds value not only in its external performance but also in its internal qualities. What sets it apart is that it is made from recycled materials. The Terra Scout is made using an innovative material called Revo, a blend of recycled polymers and hemp fibers. This results in up to 90% lower CO2 emissions compared to standard plastics.

The Terra Scout is not only sustainable but also boasts excellent durability and lightweight design. This is a crucial advantage in outdoor activities, where reducing weight is key to conserving energy during long treks or hikes. For example, the Terra Scout weighs only 84g with three AAA batteries installed. It can be used with both alkaline and rechargeable batteries, further enhancing its convenience and sustainability. 

The Terra Scout is based on Silva's existing Scout 3 headlamp model. Madelene Jonsson Öhlin, Silva's Head of Sales and Marketing, explains: "We wanted to see if we could make the Scout 3 model more sustainable," adding, "In collaboration with our material supplier, Trifilion, we redesigned the Scout 3 to be made with Revo41 material and to bring sustainability into the headlamp category." This is part of Silva's ongoing journey toward a more sustainable future.
