Traditional spinning compresses wool fibers, creating tension and loops that inhibit their natural movement, potentially causing skin irritation when worn. In contrast, Nuyarn® technology spins wool fibers alongside high-performance filaments without twisting, creating two-ply yarns with enhanced volume and breathability. This maximizes wool’s inherent moisture-wicking and thermoregulating properties, rivaling or surpassing modern synthetic fibers. 1. 35% More Volume and Breathability
The twist-free spinning technology generates much more loft and breathability within wool fibers. In nature, this leads to natural thermoregulation, breathability, air resistance, and the ability to absorb and manage sweat.
2. 5x Faster Drying
Nuyarn® Merino has superior moisture-wicking abilities compared to synthetic materials. Sweat is quickly drawn away from the skin and absorbed into the fabric, with the structure of Nuyarn® Merino initiating the drying process before it even reaches the fabric surface. This allows for more efficient thermoregulation, enabling better performance focus.

Traditional spinning compresses wool fibers, requiring elastane or spandex for elasticity. This adds weight, degrades over time, and does little for moisture management. Nuyarn®'s twist-free technology creates fibers that move with the body and return to 100% of their original shape, providing remarkable stretch without synthetic materials. Nuyarn® Merino is significantly more durable than traditionally spun merino wool. In the industry-standard Martindale abrasion test, Nuyarn® Merino withstood 123,333 rubs before showing signs of breakdown, while traditionally spun merino wool lasts between 14,000 and 18,000 rubs. This means one Nuyarn® Merino garment can last as long as nine traditionally spun merino garments.
8. 120% Stronger Seams
Nuyarn® Merino seams withstand up to 8kg of force, compared to 3kg for traditionally spun merino. In all cases, Nuyarn® Merino seams were stronger in both course and wale directions. Garments made with Nuyarn® Merino are less likely to tear or break at the seams when subjected to abrasion.
