The 2024 Paris Olympics are approaching. Sport climbing, which was first introduced as an official event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, was successfully held. From the Paris 2024 Games, the sport climbing events will increase from one event per gender to two events per gender.

Unlike the Tokyo 2020 format, where bouldering, lead, and speed were combined, the new format for sport climbing at Paris 2024 will be divided into two separate events: a combined event of bouldering and lead, and a separate speed event.

In the combined event, athletes will compete in both bouldering and lead, and their rankings will be determined by the total points accumulated across both disciplines. The goal in these events is to reach the highest point, with points awarded based on the sections or movements completed by the climber, and deductions for failed attempts.

In the speed event, athletes must reach the top of a 15-meter wall as quickly as possible. From the preliminary rounds, two climbers will race head-to-head, and the first-ever male and female speed climbing champions will be crowned.

Additionally, with the number of events doubling and the number of competitors increasing from 40 to 68, there will be more opportunities to win medals. This increase in participants and events will make sport climbing one of the most exciting events to watch at the Paris Olympics.
